翻訳ペンギン

こないだ読んだる。さんの日記（10/6）で紹介されていたペンギン・ジョーク。
クールなる。さんをして「かなりファニー」と言わしめたのは、こんな文章。

One day a penguin drives down to the mechanics with his car sputtering and stalling all the way. He falling pulls into the shop, gets out of the car and asks the mechanic to look at it. While the mechanic is looknig at, the penguin decides to go get something to eat, so he goes to the local shop and buys an ice cream cone. Penguins love ice cream particularly vanilla ice cream. Like other penguins, the penguin does not have elbows, so he puts ice cream cone on the ground and eats it and got ice cream all over his face. He goes back to the mechanic and the mechanic looks at him and said "it looks like you blew a seal" and the penguin goes "nope, it's just icecream"

ところで、る。さんが「数多あるペンギン・ジョーク」と書いていらっしゃるけど、かの国にはペンギンジョークというのは定番のネタなんでしょうか？　なぜにペンギン？
